About My Grips
Every Ruger grip frame is hand finished much the same way that each of my grip panels has been
hand finished. This results in no two Ruger grip frames being exactly alike. Every grip that I make
was created to have the best fit possible on my grip frames. Unfortunately, yours will likely be a bit
different. This is part of the reason that I use Tru-Oil wood finish to create that high gloss finish
on each of my grip panels. If your grips do not fit your revolver as perfectly as you like, all you have
to do is sand down the areas that don't fit well and recoat the bare wood with Tru-Oil which is
available at most sporting goods stores (even many Wal-Marts). Or ship them back to me with a
picture (or email picture) of the offending spot and I'll touch it up for you!
All of my grips are made the same way using a three-axis CNC router. With this method, I can
quickly rough out the basic grip panel, but still finish them all by hand. The bottoms of the grips
are flat cut with a chamfer along the edge. Once finish sanded, I begin the week-long process of
building up the Tru-Oil finish to high gloss finish. Finally, I install the brass furreles and cut a
stainless steel screw to fit. If requested, I will also install the medallions at this time.
I have modified the profile of my grips to better fill the shooter's hand. I have left the base of the
grip the same thickness as factory grips, but I have increased the thickness at the top by almost
1/10th of an inch. This results in a fuller feeling in the palm of your hand while shooting and gives a
greater area to absorb recoil, reducing the felt recoil in your hand.
